Comet Pons-Brooks, named after its discoverers, Jean-Louis Pons and William Robert Brooks, graces our night sky with its luminous presence, leaving a trail of wonder and fascination in its wake. This visitor from the outer reaches of the solar system traverses its elliptical orbit around the Sun, illuminating the heavens with its glowing coma and ethereal tail, offering a captivating spectacle against the backdrop of the cosmos. Comets like Pons-Brooks are ancient relics from the early days of the solar system, carrying with them clues to the conditions and events that shaped our celestial neighborhood.

This image of Comet Pons-Brooks was captured last night, on 03/10/2024, from 7:40 pm to 8:40 pm. Using a 400mm refractor and a Nikon Z611 camera, 40 frames were stacked in PixInsight to create the final image.
