Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex

Colorful clouds of gas and dust swirl around the bright star Rho Ophiuchi in this deep LRGB image. The region features blue reflection nebulae where starlight scatters off dust, golden clouds illuminated by nearby stars, and dark molecular clouds that obscure the background starlight. Captured with an Askar 180 Pro telescope and ZWO 2600MM camera using Baader filters, this image combines 2.5 hours of exposure under the dark skies of the Starry Night Ranch in Okeechobee, Florida.
The vivid colors arise from different physical processes: blue from reflected starlight, yellow from dust warmed by nearby stars, and red from ionized hydrogen emission, all intertwined within one of the closest star-forming regions to Earth.
